The Mr Men and Little Miss Team in London
The Virgin London Marathon is always one of the most exciting highlights of the running year. It draws runners from all over the world, most of whom choose to raise much-needed sponsorship funds for their favourite charity.
Since being Official Charity in 2002, and thanks to the generous support of our runners and their supporters, we are thrilled that our Mr Men and Little Miss Team has had over 1000 runners each year each of whom raises vital funds for our fight to save young lives. Aside from our six Mr Men and Little Miss costume characters, our team is always easy to spot in our trademark Mr Happy and Mr Tickle running vests, only made possible by the generous support we received from Chorion Rights Limited.
For the Virgin London Marathon, teams of CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA supporters line the route at several different cheering points, dressed in the trademark charity red with balloons and banners, and a team of staff and volunteers are on hand to greet each and every runner, no matter how long it takes to complete the course! Each runner, their families and friends are also invited to a reception, held just yards from the finish, to enjoy massages, hot food and a chance to unwind and reflect on the day with fellow Mr Men and Little Miss team mates.
Every runner is a star in our eyes and deserving of our deepest gratitude. The motivation and determination required for preparation and training, with runners pounding the streets in often wet and cold conditions is awe-inspiring. Whilst completing 26.2 miles is a huge personal achievement, many runners also let us know that collecting sponsorship monies is almost more demanding. For this, we also like to thank and include runners’ families and friends whose kind sponsorship and encouragement is so important; this support and commitment is so deeply appreciated and vital in raising much needed funds for our fight against the biggest childhood cancer.
We are so grateful for the opportunity, so proud of all our runners and so thrilled with everything that is achieved through the Virgin London Marathon.
